TEACHERS
Based on the Steiner-Waldorf framework, Sloka’s pedagogy revolves around the wholesome development of each child.
Teaching at Sloka is about imparting education to a child with love and a firm belief that every child is special and unique. This requires our teachers to work relentlessly on their own will and constantly seek to learn and grow in the process.
Waldorf teachers constantly ask themselves:
There are currently 120 teachers and support staff employed at the school, and the community thrives on mutual support, guidance, and a shared love for the way of life at Sloka. Get to know some of our teachers better by clicking on their respective bios.
— Rudolf Steiner
We welcome teachers who are passionate about their subjects, can initiate and engage the students in a dialogue on various topics extending beyond the classroom, prepare them to be secular, global citizens, and at the same time be connected with their community.
After Sloka pioneered the Steiner-Waldorf pedagogy in India, it became imperative to have a formalised Teacher Training programme, incorporating guidance from international mentors. To be able to renew ourselves as teachers, and bring key elements of Waldorf Education into our work with our students were among the goals of the programme.
Teachers from Waldorf as well as mainstream schools from all over the Indian subcontinent have benefited from the training program at Sloka. The Sloka-Steiner Waldorf Teacher Training Programme has undergone a process of review, revision, and renewal in its fifth successful year.
