At Sloka since 2007

Nagaratnam began his career as a teacher in 2003, at Roots High School. Since then, he had been passionate about teaching, attempting to reach each child individually in order to meet them at their highest potential. At the time, he had also been working as a Math tutor, which led him to encounter a student studying at Sloka with an exceptional course load. Upon browsing the school’s website, he found the teaching curriculum to be inspiring, and it piqued his interest in applying to Sloka as a Math teacher.

Speaking with the teachers Jhosthna and Yasmin was another factor in Nagaratnam’s decision to apply to the school, if visiting the website was one. While he progressively realised that it was a better fit for his personality and teaching methods than other schools, at Sloka, he also got to explore interests that aroused his curiosity, such as craft and painting, despite being a mathematics instructor. And although initially confused by the curriculum, he received plenty of support from the other teachers to be able to integrate smoothly into Sloka.

Nagaratnam has been a Math teacher for Grades 6-10 in Sloka.
